活動期間1961-1966.11
ノッティンガムで結成されたビート・グループ。Ten Years Afterの前身バンド。
1960年、ギタリストAlvin LeeとベースのLeo Lyonsを中心にシンガーのIavn Jayを加えてロックンロール・バンドIvan Jay & The Jaymenを結成。Jayが離脱した1961年からはトリオ編成となり、The Jaymen、さらにThe Jaycats、The Jaybirdsへと改名。この頃にはハンブルグ遠征も経験する。
ローカルな人気を博して1964年にはEmbassyからカップリングを含むカバーシングル多数をリリース。1965年夏にはドラマーが元The MansfieldsのRic Leeに交代して念願だったロンドン進出を果たす。
The Ivy Leagueのバックなどを務めつつ経験を積み、1966年、キーボードのChick Churchillを加えバンド名をTen Years Afterに改名。
